What it costs
What happens when credits run out
Your bot stops writing answers, visitors see your own message, and nothing on your site breaks.
Before you start
- You know what a message credit is How to check
- You can sign in to your dashboard
About 4 minutes. You’ll do three things:
- what stops
- what your visitors see
- the two ways back
When the month's credits are gone, your bot stops writing new answers. Everything else stays put. The chat window is still on your site, and visitors can still open it. They still get a reply — but it is the message you wrote, not an AI answer.
What your visitors see
Your visitors see that fallback message as an ordinary chat bubble. There is no billing warning, no error page and no red banner. Nothing on your site tells a customer that you have run out.
What keeps working
Nothing is lost while your credits are empty. Your training, settings and appearance stay as they are. Saved conversations stay in Chat review. Your card is not charged, because nothing recharges automatically.
You get a warning first
At 90% of your monthly credits an email goes to your account address, with the subject You're at 90% of your monthly credits. It is on by default. You can see it under Notifications → Approaching message cap (90% used). The dashboard shows Approaching your monthly limit a little sooner than the email, then Out of credits when the balance reaches zero.
Wait, or upgrade
| Option | Best for |
|---|---|
| Wait for the monthly reset | You are near the end of your billing period and can go a few days without AI answers. It costs nothing, and your reset date is on Usage. |
| Upgrade your plan | You need answers back today. The new credits arrive as soon as the payment goes through. |
| Plan | Price a month | Credits | Answers on a 1-credit model |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | £0 | 50 | about 50 |
| Local | £8 | 200 | about 200 |
| Growth | £20 | 500 | about 500 |
| Scale | £75 | 4,000 | about 4,000 |
| Advanced | £250 | 14,000 | about 14,000 |
Those are the pound prices. Your own currency, the annual option and the live figures are on the pricing page and on Plan & billing. Annual plans still reset monthly — paying for a year changes the invoice, not the monthly allowance.
Here is the sum for a café. Free gives 50 credits, so about 50 answers a month. Local is £8 a month for 200 credits, so about 200 answers. That is four times the room. If that café is on a 3-credit model, the same 200 credits are about 66 answers, and switching model is the cheaper fix.
Upgrade and start answering again
In the left sidebar, click Plan & billing.
Choose the plan you want, then click Upgrade.
Each card names the message credits a month you are buying.
Pay on the checkout page.
Wait for Plan active on the page you come back to.
It reads: Your subscription is live and your message credits have been added.
Open Usage and check the meter shows the new allowance.
If it didn’t work
Visitors are getting the fallback message and I do not know why
- Check
- Open Usage and read the top card. If the remaining figure is zero, the credits are gone. The dashboard also shows Out of credits.
- Fix
- Upgrade on Plan & billing, or wait for the date on the Resets in line. Either way your bot starts answering again on its own.
- Resolved when
- Usage shows credits remaining, and a test question on your site gets a real answer.
I upgraded but the bot is still not answering
- Check
- Open Usage and see whether the allowance changed. On Plan & billing, look for Finishing your last checkout — plan changes are locked until it completes.
- Fix
- Give it a minute and refresh, as the page itself says: Your payment is safe. Refresh this page in a minute to see your new plan. If the allowance has not moved after that, email hello@adoomi.ai with your workspace name and the time you paid.
- Resolved when
- The meter shows the new allowance and a test question gets an answer.
The bot tells visitors there is a billing issue
- Check
- Visitors see There's a billing issue with this chatbot. Please contact the site owner. That is a failed payment, not empty credits. Check your inbox for an email titled Payment failed.
- Fix
- Open Plan & billing and click Manage subscription to update the card. Answers resume once the payment goes through.
- Resolved when
- Visitors stop seeing the billing line and your bot answers again.
I never got the 90% email
- Check
- Open Notifications and find Approaching message cap (90% used). Check the Email column is ticked.
- Fix
- Tick it, and it saves on its own. It sends to your account email address, so check that inbox and its spam folder. If nothing arrives next month, email hello@adoomi.ai.
- Resolved when
- The email arrives the next time you cross 90% of your credits.
What this can’t do
- You cannot buy a one-off top-up on a self-serve plan today — a bigger plan is the only way to add credits mid-month.
- Unused credits do not roll over — a quiet month does not build up credit for a busy one.
- A downgrade is not immediate — unlike an upgrade, it starts from your next billing period.
- Annual plans do not give a year of credits up front — they still reset monthly.
